Ellen is amazing! She is patient and flexible and knows how to cater her teaching style based on her student's needs. As an adult trying to squeeze learning a new instrument into an already busy schedule, I really appreciate her ability to help me progress at a pace I can handle. She is awesome with adults and children. A great teacher and amazing musician herself! Highly, highly recommended!!

Ellen is the perfect fit for our 10 yr old. We’ve been taking virtual lessons weekly, and he has gained so much confidence and knowledge of music while developing skills. She takes time to incorporate basic music theory into each lesson, while still making it fun. Our son looks forward to his time with her each week. Her patience is unparalleled, which I feel is paramount due to the barrier of virtual lessons. We are excited to see what our son learns every week!

Ms. Docherty is amazing!  She helped my (at the time) 8 year old become familiar with his instrument of choice (violin), and not only understand the basics and the importance of practicing, but she also helped foster a love of music in general.  Her positive attitude and insightful way of explaining musical terms and theories really helped him feel comfortable asking questions without feeling foolish.  As a former music teacher and lifelong musician myself, I feel I can appreciate her incredible skills on a whole different level.  She is encouraging but has expectations, and that balance is very important when teaching a new student how to learn and excel with a new instrument.  I love that she is now offering virtual lessons!  How lucky for those of us that no longer live nearby to have such an opportunity!  THANK YOU for everything you've done to help my now 11 year old enjoy and succeed in his musical journey!  Your talent and applicable skills as a teacher are priceless.
